Behind The Chubb Rock Show

People hear me on the radio and think it's easy. Just talk, play some records, laugh it up. And yeah — when it's working, it sounds effortless. But I want to pull back the curtain for a minute.

My love for broadcasting started long before I ever sat in a radio chair. I was a storyteller from day one. Hip hop is storytelling. So when Clear Channel's Power 105 in New York gave me middays back in 2001, it wasn't a pivot — it was a natural extension of everything I'd been doing on wax.

"Radio is live. There's no take two. Every morning I walk in knowing I owe the listener everything I've got — for the full four hours."

The Chubb Rock Show today is a four-hour daily broadcast — Mon through Fri, afternoons featuring myself, Ed The Gemini, Marvin Dixon, Rob Swinga, and DJ Frost. We're doing current events, sports commentary, classic music history, celebrity interviews, and comedy — all through a hip hop lens. It's not a jukebox. It's a conversation.

Then on weekends, Diggin' In Tha Crates gives me two hours to go deep. Classic hip hop and R&B from the '80s through the 2000s, with inside stories nobody else can tell because I was there. Me and the Needle Droppas — DJ Frost, DJ Feel X, DJ Chill Will, DJ Ant B — we treat it like a masterclass every week.

The goal has never changed: keep the culture alive, educate the next generation, and make sure you leave every listener better than you found them.
